The re-election bid of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, gained formidable momentum this week as the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Awka South Campaign Council, under the dynamic leadership of the Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, embarked on a highly successful ward-to-ward campaign tour across the local government area.
The tour, which signifies a strategic grassroots engagement, kicked off on Monday, September 22, 2025, with an electrifying reception at Isiagu/Ezinator Ward. The campaign train subsequently moved to Umuawulu, creating a wave of palpable excitement that continued through the week with massive turnouts in Nise, Mbaukwu, Awka Ward I and Awka Ward II.
The Deputy Governor, Dr. Ibezim, who is a proud son of Awka South, was received in each ward by ecstatic crowds of party faithful, community leaders, women, and youth groups. The overwhelming turnout at every stop was a clear testament to the people’s appreciation of the unprecedented transformation undertaken by the Soludo-Ibezim administration.
The campaign entourage was a powerhouse of APGA leadership, featuring the Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, the Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Pius Okoye, who lent his voice to the call for continuity. The team was expertly coordinated by the Chairman of the Awka South Campaign Council and Managing Director of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Hon. Ossy Onuko. He was ably supported by his Vice Chairman, Prince Chinedu Okafor, the Mayor of Awka South Local Government Area.
At every ward visited, the respective Ward Campaign Council Chairmen and key stakeholders were publicly acknowledged for their relentless efforts in mobilizing the grassroots. In their speeches, Hon. Ossy Onuko and Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Pius Okoye , passionately detailed the visible achievements of Governor Soludo, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the massive infrastructural and economic transformation of Anambra State. They unanimously urged the people to reward performance with another four years of purposeful leadership.
Deputy Governor’s Powerful Address
In his keynote address across the wards, Deputy Governor Ibezim spoke with the passion of a hometown leader and the clarity of a key architect of the state’s progress. He highlighted the administration’s landmark achievements, including the construction of roads, the revolutionary ‘One Youth, Two Skills’ initiative empowering thousands, the restoration of security, and the massive investment in education and healthcare.
“What we have witnessed in the past three and a half years is not mere governance; it is a revolution,” Dr. Ibezim declared. “From the urban centres to our rural communities, the evidence of the Soludo-Ibezim commitment is concrete and undeniable. This election on November 8th is about consolidation. It is about giving our Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the mandate to finish the excellent work he has started. Awka South, as my home, must lead by example and show the entire state what it means to stand with progress.”
He emphasized that the Soludo-Ibezim ticket is a joint mandate for a prosperous Anambra, calling on the people to vote overwhelmingly for APGA to ensure the continuity of this transformative pathway.
