Dr. Okechi has built a robust career across Nigeria’s healthcare and regulatory sectors, serving at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital and the National Health Insurance Scheme. He is the Medical Director of Vepo Hospital and Fertility Center Abuja. His experience spans roles in managed care, corporate responsibilities, organizational leadership tasks and international health systems, including work as quality assurance manager In-Charge of Managed care in British High Commission (Abuja) in 2005 under Clearline, and collaborations with global organizations in Switzerland, Italy ,Austria and the United States.

Born and raised in Anambra State, Dr. Okechi is an alumnus of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, where he earned his degree in Medicine and Surgery. He further specialized in Embryology and Assisted Reproductive Technology, and holds a Master’s degree in Healthcare Financing, with an MBA in view. His professional development also includes certifications in Project Management, Policy, and Leadership.
On the global stage, he proudly represented Nigeria at international conferences, including the United Nations Conference in Copenhagen – Denmark in (2009), as well as engagements in international negotiations in Mexico (2010) and Austria (2015).

Dr. Okechi’s commitment to grassroots development is remarkable. As Immediate Past Chairman of Ivite Umueri, he spearheaded transformative initiatives such as:
Establishment of Umueri Microfinance Bank in Ivite Umueri,
Development of the Umueri Daily Market in Ivite Umueri, Initiating an annual Ivite Umueri day celebration to chocase their rich cultural heritage,
Rehabilitation of Ivite Umueri Community Secondary School,
Sponsorship of annual free healthcare and surgical outreach since 2020.
He also played a key role in resolving a decades-long land dispute and contributed to the realization of the Anambra International Airport, aligning with the development vision of Mr Governor- Prof C.C Soludo- CFR.
A respected traditional leader, Dr. Okechi serves as a High Chief (Ichie) and member of the Igwe-in-Council in Umueri. He currently chairs the Umueri Economic and Development Strategy (UMEDEST) which is a developmental initiative of His Royal Majesty Igwe Dr Sir Izuchukwu Benneth Emeka in line with Mr Governor of Anambra State Solution 1.0 and 2.0 developmental initiative for ndi Anambra . Faith, Family, and Philanthropy, he is a devoted Catholic and Knight of St. John International (4th Degree), he has enrolled over 150 indigent individuals into the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency and continues to support community welfare through building of houses for less privileged and constructing chapel for his local church. He is the immediate past president of Anambra, Enugu and Ebonyi catholic community in Abuja- Our Lady Queen of Nigeria catholic Church Garki.
He is happily married to Lady Blessing Ngozi Okechi (Ukwuoma) and is a proud father.
