As Nigeria joins the global community in celebrating the International Women’s Day 2025, Anambra Women have been called to resist all forms of abuse and say no to Rascality in their marriage, politics, work place, and family. The call was made by the Anambra State Commissioner for women and social welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo at the 2025 International Women’s Day celebration, themed “Accelerate Actions”.
The colourful event which started with a prayer session held at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Center, Awka featured prayer, lecture, drama and Match pass from all the 21 LGA, and other women groups in Anambra State.

Speaking at the event, Mrs Obinabo said, “Women are the agents of change in every society, and mind you that the men in the bush were born by women, the Yahoo Yahoo boys were born by women, the girls who go outside without wearing underwear are also born by women, and when a woman tells her children enough is enough, nobody wants to see the tears of his or her mother. We shall get things right in this country by fire by force”.

Addressing the women, the Chairman of the event, the CEO Sea Horse lubricants LTD Chief Ebuka Onunkwo encouraged the women to learn to support each other politically so as to bring a stop to female marginalization in politics. “You cannot be working like a cow and eating like a grasscutter, women have the population, they have the majority who vote in elections, but they find it difficult to vote their fellow women who will represent them into political positions, if only women will learn to support each other they won’t be complaining of marginalization.

Some of the women in attendance like Mrs Ngozi Ezeonu, Hajia Mariam Raji, AdaIfe Judith Oraekee encouraged women to have self-value so as to speak up against any form of Gender Based Violence.
